Warranty and returns

Cosmas USA warrants its Cosmas® footwear to be free from defects in workmanship and materials. This warranty covers premature wear and tear but does not cover unusual exposures, as conditions of use are outside the control of the manufacturer. This limited warranty is granted to the original buyer and shall extend for a period of three (3) years from the date of purchase. Cosmas USA also warrants its Cosmas® footwear to be free from manufacturer’s defects for the life of the product. Except as set forth above, Cosmas® makes no other warranties, express or implied, including, but not limited to, any warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular use. Repair, replacement, or dealer credit, at the manufacturer’s sole discretion, shall be the exclusive remedy available for breach of this warranty. The manufacturer shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damages.

Distributors are not authorized to replace Cosmas® products without prior approval. Any Cosmas® product returned under warranty must be returned to Cosmas® for evaluation. Upon inspection, Cosmas® will either replace the product, repair the product, credit the dealer account, or return the product as is with an explanation. Damage due to normal wear and tear can be repaired at a reasonable charge with customer or dealer approval.

Warranty Returns

If you have a Cosmas® product that you believe should be considered for warranty, please, either take it back to the store where you purchased it along with your dated receipt, or contact the distributor from which you purchased it and find out how to return it for inspection. If this is not possible, then please contact Cosmas® at info@cosmasusa.com to obtain a Returns Authorization number and return shipping instructions. Please include your name; ship to address; email address; telephone number; model, size, and date of purchase; and the reason for the return. Products returned for warranty inspection should be sent prepaid and insured. Cosmas® will not be held responsible for lost or damaged packages. Once we receive and inspect the returned product, we will either repair it, replace it, or credit the distributor for the product, or return it as is with an explanation, at our sole discretion. No returns will be accepted without a Returns Authorization number.

Care and maintenance

Thanks for your purchase of Cosmas® footwear. Here are a few tips that can help to extend the life of your boots.

Hand wash protective footwear in a utility sink with a shoe brush or another soft brush such as a soft-bristle toothbrush. Soak shoe brush with water to remove dirt and other soils. Always wear protective gloves while cleaning protective footwear. Handle the waste water from the utility sink according to federal, state, and local law. Do not use chlorine bleach, water temperatures greater than 110°F, heavy abrasion and/or scrubbing, or cleaning solutions with a pH greater than 10.5.

Remove inner sole, and air dry protective footwear. Use drying racks for hanging protective footwear to provide maximum air exposure and reduce drying time. Do not dry protective footwear in direct sunlight or machine dry. Do not dry wet protective footwear in front of open windows, hot ovens, or radiators, as such accelerated drying methods can affect the fit of the protective footwear and prematurely age the leather. Be sure not to wear your protective footwear if it is not thoroughly clean and dry.

After each cleaning, inspect your protective footwear for heat damage, leather damage, thread or seam damage, discoloration, cracks, tears, and wear. If you discover damage to your protective footwear, contact your supervisor to determine the proper next steps.

Other than regular cleaning and proper drying as described above, your protective footwear require no further treatment. Such treatments may jeopardize the protective qualities of your protective footwear.

You’ve heard the saying that no two people are alike, well no two feet are alike either. Getting the perfect fit in a pair of fire fighting boots is rarely as simple telling your chief that you wear a particular size. To get the right size, a good place to start is by having your feet measured on a Brannock device. A Brannock device measures the overall length, arch (ball-to-heel) length, and width of your foot, and all three measurements are factors in achieving a good fit. The overall length and arch length are the two most important measurements for determining length. Use the larger of these two measurements as a starting point for selecting your boot size.

When trying on boots make sure to bring the socks you would normally wear when using the boots for their intended purpose, and any orthotics or custom insoles you use. For the Vulcan, Hercules V2, and Helios, start by trying on the size and width determined by your Brannock device measurement. For the Titan, start by trying on the size and width determined by your Brannock device measurement, plus a 1/2 size.

You want to make sure that your toes are not touching the front of the boots. Ensure that the ball of your foot is positioned where the boot naturally flexes. Ensure that your feet are held snugly and comfortably in place while walking. Your heel should feel snug in the heelcup and should not slide up and down easily.

Ultimately, the right size for you is the size that fits, regardless of the number on the shoe or the box.

Enjoy your Cosmas USA® boots.
